Does anyone have one of these things? If so, why not post some pictures? I
think it would be immensely interesting to see what one of these look like
besides countless versions of this:
http://www.nerdtests.com/pics.php?id=69. These things seem to have totally
faded into history.

Someone, somewhere has one. Louis got his planar outline from
somewhere.

As far as I know, the reference diskette remains to be seen. I find it
odd that Tandy/Radio Shack doesn't have it on their web site
somewhere. Usually they have had a pretty good library of service info
for their products.

I emailed Radio Schlock this year and there is no joy to be found
there... The MFM driver I link to is the only 5000MC related driver I
could find anywhere... YMMV. Impress me...

Huh. Any owners of this system will no doubt be taking great pains to
never reconfigure and keep their CMOS batteries energized. Unless of
course they have the disk and haven't happened across this group yet.
I suppose that's the only hope left...

Where'd you get the planar outline from? Do you have one?

Hi,

I finally put up scans from Byte Sept. 88 [vol. 13 no. 9] as spotted
by Louis a month or so ago.

http://www.9999hp.net/5000MC/

It's reviewed along with the 8570-A21, section on the 5000 MC is on
[pages] 157 and 159.

Pictures:
Photo cropped from the article p. 155 (not exactly straight):

From front cover of the magazine: Loading Image...
Higher-res scan of internals picture from p. 157: Loading Image...
Full-page advert from back of magazine: Loading Image...

It seems that there may be one in captivity (and hooray for circular
links): http://www.vintage-computer.com/vcforum/showthread.php?p=22790

There's a CPU card:

and fully loaded memory card:
http://search.ebay.com/220098228631 [eBay item #220098228631]
on buy-it-now on the 'bay at the moment, with pics for limited
observation.

Probably even less chance of finding anything related this side of the
pond, so now I've said that, please prove me wrong.

I have seen both 5000MC auctions, and they are for the 5Kmc. If I had
one, the SIMM card would be of interest so I could fill the second
memory card slot...

No refdisk... that's the pity...
