I have a 76i (Lacuna) and what I believe to be a Corvette Turbo
(93h7896). From my reading, I believe these two to be compatible. If I
load up the appropriate ADFs, I can see the card settings when using
the ref disk, but whenever I try and boot I get error "02067020 10EH"

Any ideas?

Laughter through tears. The EDFW does not have a SCSI BIOS [no Korvetten
class does either...]. The Lacuna is IDE-biased [IDE controller
on-board] and has a FLASH BIOS.

Systems with a on-board SCSI controller can provide a SCSI BIOS, or if
you have another IBM SCSI adapter [like a Spock] the EDFW can dog-rob
the existing SCSI BIOS.

Probulations suggest the Korvetten class SCSI uCode [e.g. firmware] has
a "SCSI Stub" that points to an existing SCSI BIOS that has been loaded
into RAM. Either another IBM SCSI adapter _OR_ a system that has IML
support in it's BIOS [e.g. Model 90 or Model 95] can provide the
required SCSI BIOS support in IML.

All Korvetten-class [includes the 4-C] are RS/6000 adapters. I _think_
POWER2 / PPC 601 and better systems have the needed SCSI BIOS support in
the O/S.

Yes, the ROS is somewhat analogous to BIOS but has almost no user
interface. The POWER2 and PPC (601/604) ROS have additional support for
newer adapters. It has direct knowledge for boot support from the
various adapters as well as netboot - which is the only serial config
interface I am aware of from ROS - everything else ROS is configured via
AIX and you just get the 3 digit LED codes for information from it until
AIX kernel takes over.

Thanks folks. I was glad to hear this newsgroup was still around - I
used to read it religiously decades ago - and I knew that if an answer
was to be found, it was here.

I tried the card in my 76 Bermuda and it does seem to work (although I
lack the proper SCSI cables to try properly).

I'll look for a 76 compatible SCSI card

thanks
mike
