I picked up one of these at a second hand computer market for today for $40.
When I saw it was the first ever Thinkpad and that the color screen was in
good nick and the body very clean - I snapped it up.

Downloaded the ref and diag disks, wiped off Windows for Workgroups and
installed good old Warp 3. Works like a treat - 486SLC with 8 meg ram 120
meg HD. It is MCA as well.

The battery is no good which is not surprising given it is 12 years old.
Does anyone know if you can get new or recondition batteries?

Regards

David (I am not new to PS/2's I already have a model 30, 3 model 70s and a
model 76).

Long shot but try plugging the FRU number for the battery into
Froogle--there a re a couple of outfits making replacement batteries for
older Thinkpads--whether they've got one for yours I don't know.
